  • The followers of Christ were known by His name; they were Christians. It was their allegiance to this name, their loyalty to Him whom it signified as their Lord, that subjected them to persecution by the Roman authorities, and led to suffering at the hands of those who were bent upon subverting their faith.   • CONDITION: The condition of the church locally and in the church age. "And hast borne, and hast patience, and for my name's sake hast laboured, and hast not fainted." (KC 32)
