"...I Daniel looked, and, behold..."

  • The fact that Daniel doesn't give a detailed description of the "...man clothed in linen..." (Daniel 12:6) or of the "waters of the river..." (Daniel 12:6) leads us to believe that this is a question about Daniel's final prophecy that stated in Daniel 10. It could be said that Daniel 12:5 begins God's epilogue or final instructions to Daniel. (KC 145)
  • Daniel 12:5 thru Daniel 12:13 form an epilogue to the vision of Daniel Chapters 10, 11 and 12 and may be considered, in a less definite sense, as an epilogue to the entire book. (4BC 879)

"...there stood other two..."

  • Two additional heavenly beings appear here, joining the one who has been narrating the prophecy of Daniel. Some have suggested that they are possibly the two "saints" mentioned in Daniel 8:13. (4BC 879)

"...the river."

  • That is, the Hiddekel, or Tigris (Daniel 10:4). (4BC 879)
