"...then was I in a deep sleep on my face..."

  • Daniel was left alone in the presence of the Son of God, and as he compared his own condition to that of Christ, he seemed to be a lump of clay, a broken vessel, uncomely and useless. (Genesis 18:27). "My vigor was turned in me into corruption, and I retained no strength." (Daniel 10:8). He clung close to the cold earth, his face to the ground in a deep sleep, helpless in the hands of God. "What is man, that thou art mindful of him? or the son of man, that thou visitest him?" (Hebrews 2:6; Psalms 8:3-5)
