" . . . as the toes of the feet . . . "

  • The iron legs of the image terminate in feet and toes. To the toes, of which there were of course ten, our attention is called by the explicit mention of them in the prophecy. The kingdom represented by the part of the image to which the toes belonged, was finally divided into ten parts. The question therefore naturally arises, 'Do the ten toes of the image represent the ten final divisions of the Roman Empire?' We answer, 'Yes.' (US 55-57)
